“He followed with the premiere of Lowell Liebermann’s unutterably lovely Nocturne No.3…Liebermann’s piece presents a direct, almost childlike melody under a crystalline, asymmetrical minimalist pattern. It rises to a storm of rage, finds calm in a brief fugue, solace in memory and closure in a simple B major chord. It is a demanding piece, technically and interpretively.”
